Our one-year-old classroom provides full-day care from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM in a nurturing, developmentally responsive environment. With a 1:6 teacher-to-child ratio, we are able to form strong, trusting relationships with each child while encouraging their growing independence. At this stage, children are developing a deeper awareness of themselves and others, and our educators support this growth with consistent routines, loving guidance and plenty of opportunities to explore and discover.
Our days are thoughtfully balanced between child-led exploration and gentle structure. One-year-olds thrive on predictable routines and we help them begin to understand the flow of the day through songs, visual cues and consistent transitions. They are encouraged to begin participating in simple tasks like washing hands, helping with cleanup and gathering for group time, all while learning to work alongside their peers and begin forming social connections. These shared experiences lay the foundation for cooperation, empathy and communication.
We offer developmentally appropriate provocations that invite curiosity, movement and sensory exploration - such as soft loose parts, open-ended materials and nature-based activities. The environment is intentionally designed to support autonomy, with child-accessible shelves, cozy reading spaces and areas for climbing, building and pretending. Most importantly, our teachers act as secure bases for learning, consistently engaging in responsive interactions that help children feel safe, seen and supported as they navigate new experiences and developmental milestones.
